One of the scariest kids series ever written will finally get a big screen adaptation with some help from Guillermo del Toro.
The famous director is producing an adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, directed by Norwegian filmmaker behind the magical and scary movie, Trollhunter.
The series has already inspired a documentary, and the interviews work just like a book trailer.
A series of trailers for the movie rolled out during the Super Bowl. You can watch them at CBS Films:
While we wait, 8th Mind has more about the adaptation:
The Scary Stories adaptation “follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.” Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a series of three 1980s children’s books written by Alvin Schwartz. Many of the stories were based on folklore, told with enough scary material to give kids the shivers. Stephen Gammell’s infamous illustrations have haunted the nightmares of fans for decades. In this video, you can see some of Gammell’s great work, complete with a spooky soundtrack.
